Hot water systems are very popular nowadays because of increasing demand of water heaters in winters. You would not like to take bath in chilled water in winter season so you should think about hot water systems which can be beneficial for you. Hot water systems are considered superior over storage tanks as you will get continuous flow of hot water 24 hrs a day. They require very less maintenance and you don’t have to paid large electricity bills. In this article you will read about different types of hot water systems.

The Types Of Hot Water Systems:

Hot Water System

The esteemed hot water system may seem to be responsible for heavy energy bills; very few of us understand that the cost that collects in heating the water can cover up approximately 30% on the total bill of any Australian household’s. One’s hot water system may be pricey and that it largely depends on what type of service one has availed for.

Hot water Service and systems are available in two particular designs – ‘storage’ and ‘continuous flow’ (also called ‘instantaneous’). The first one or the storage hot water system is used to heat and maintain warm water in the storage tank, until the time is right for usage. This gives the instant hot water, as per its other name, but the hindrance lies in its limited storage capacity. Continuous hot water systems, however, heats up the water rapidly. A large amount of water is made and the supply is available whenever one needs it. Although it does needs a few minutes to heat the water up, the instantaneous system is not going to waste energy while keeping the water warm, when not in use by anyone.

The categories:

  • The Electric Water Heater- The electric water storage systems are used to heat the water through the use of an electric-powered element that is placed at the bottom of the water tank. The continuous systems functions in a similar manner and the only difference lies is that the electric-powered element is set into coils around the pipes so that the water stored inside is heated rapidly. Electric hot water systems have the perk of low costing and are safe plus reliable ways to keep the water warm, without increasing bills to an unexpected hike.
  • The Gas Water Heat- Storage systems have a gas burner that continuously heats and maintains water in a storage tank at 60°C temperature. Continuous flow systems also have a similar burner that comes into use only in times of the requirement of the water. Hot water systems that use gas emit less greenhouse gases unlike the electric water systems. Also, depending on the location, the gas systems are generally believed to have comparatively much less rates than compared to the electricity, making them an appreciatively budget-friendly option for a long term.
  • Heat Pump Water Heater: Heat pumps consist of a fan that is used to suck into the system, the warm air, and transfers it to the tank, storing water. It is a reserve fridge basically.  It pumps out the hot air for heating the water, instead of pumping it out for keeping the fridge cool. Heat pumps are the solutions for hot water that are most energy sufficient. Despite the fact that more electricity is needed for their functioning, they are at least three times more active than typical electric water heaters.

If one is attached to mains gas and the house receives a moderate amount of sunlight, the ideal hot water system has gas boosters and a solar storage. Continuous flow gas system is ideal for houses that receive very less sunlight.

However, there is no permanent remedy whenever it comes to narrowing down the energy bill. Rather, one might choose to not opt for electric hot water systems, especially the continuous flow models, since they are prone to high emissions and so are considered quite an expensive option.
